Cincinnati Observatory

Cincinnati Observatory
Built in 1873, the Cincinnati Observatory wears the label, "Birthplace of American Astronomy." The building has undergone considerable restoration over the past decade rescuing it from use as a storage facility and making it a popular place amongst visitors. The main building (shown here) houses a 16-inch Alvan Clark & Sons refracting telescope that is used in public outreach and for research. Photo by James Guilford.
