Merz und Mahler Telescope

Merz und Mahler Telescope
This is the original telescope of the Cincinnati Observatory, the 1842 Merz und Mahler 12-inch refractor. The telescope is shown in its parked position -- straight up to help avoid bending of the wooden optical tube by gravity. The telescope is in fine operating order and continues in use today.
